Wave Hill House was built in 1843 by William Lewis Morris in the Greek Revival style. It was later enlarged in 1866-1869 and again in 1890. You will learn when you visit with your New York City Movers that during this time, the house was visited by Thomas Henry Huxley, who helped Charles Darwin bring evolution to the public's attention. Theodore Roosevelt also visited Wave Hill in 1870 and 1871, and Mark Twain leased it from 1901-1903. This place is full of history.

When you visit Wave Hill with your New York City Movers, you will want to visit the Flower Garden, the Marco Polo Stufano Conservatory, Pergola & Vistas of the Hudson River and the New Jersey Palisades, Wild Garden, Aquatic & Monocot Garden, Alpine House, and the woodland acres. They also have special collections such as Shade Border and Conifer Slope. Wave Hill has recently received part of a grant from the Carnegie Corporation for improvements.

Wave Hill is a 28-acre public garden that you can visit with your New York City Movers that overlooks the Hudson River and Palisades in the Bronx. They are open Tuesday through Saturday (Closed Mondays except for Memorial Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, and Veterans Day. They are also closed New Year's Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas). From mid-April until mid-October they are open from 9:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m., while the rest of the year they are open from 9:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. There are tours that are free to the public that leave from the Perkins Visitor Center every Sunday at 2:15 p.m. The greenhouses are open from 10:00 a.m. until noon and from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m. Admission is Free on Tuesday and Saturday until noon. The rest of the time it is $6 for adults, $3 for students and seniors, and $2 for children.

Be kind to the environment

There are a few rules that you need to abide by when you visit with your New York City Movers. Please only use Wave Hill benches and chairs and do not bring other chairs or blankets. Food is only permitted in the designated areas. DO NOT pick the flowers, take plant material, or climb trees.
